In the Brussels-Capital Region, all properties put up for sale or to be let must have a PEB certificate. This obligation applies to individual dwellings as well as offices of more than 500 m².
In Brussels, buildings account for no less than 70% of the Region's overall energy consumption. The Building Energy Performance Regulation, PEB, was adopted to drive down their energy consumption of buildings whilst improving comfort.

To obtain this coveted certificate, you need to call on the services of a certifier approved by Bruxelles Environnement. Only these agents are authorised to certify buildings or parts of buildings and to issue valid PEB certificates.
Certifiers approved for individual dwellings (homes, apartments, etc.)
Certifiers approved for “public building” PEB certificates
Certifiers approved for the tertiary sector (officers, etc.)

The PEB certificate is also compulsory in Flanders and Wallonia since 1 January 2015.
